Inde's back on vacation, while idiots are still fighting like cats snd dogs over her casting choices online. She only posts very sparsely. So we shouldn't see anything worth posting on the content thread anytime soon.
 
I wonder if this is the point where her fame starts sinking down, that she can go on vacation instead of doing collabs / modeling / interviews / other shit. because I was sure her agent / team are getting spammed with interviews or modeling / partnerships requests. I mean shes going to be in canada in 2 weeks for the tiff festival to talk about obsession once again in a Q&A / interview manner with curry barker.

All that it takes to be the "it-girl" in Hollywood now is to give one laughably over-the-top performance in a terrible YouTube slop horror film? Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that, even today, it takes a bit more than that. Nobody will remember Obsession years from now, just like nobody will remember any of the other moronic dogshit that's popular with the TikTok brainrot crowd right now. There's a big difference between being an "it-girl" and being yet another flash-in-the-pan for trend-of-the-nanosecond teenagers.

And no, nobody will remember Sydney Sweeney years from now either, just like nobody today remembers Anna Nicole Smith or Pamela Anderson or Jenny McCarthy or any of the other actresses who were famous solely because they had big tits. Again, it takes a bit more than that.

People will remember the movie that made half a billion at the box office on a sub 1 million dollar budget. That's like saying no one remembers 'Blair Witch Project' or 'Paranormal Activity'. Horror most especially lends itself to cult followings, whether you think it's good or not has absolutely zero relevance to that. Also, Inde has become an it-girl not based on her performance alone but because of her personality that's shown in every single interview, event, appearance etc. Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok are full of her interviews, clips of hers, supercuts and what not because people actually like the way she presents and carries herself. The movie got her the attention but her personality made her popular with the younger generation.

Also, comparing Sydney Sweeney to Playboy playmates, some of whom have barely done any acting, nevermind having lead roles in big mainstream movies, is also laughable. The woman's got her own production company and numerous films lined up and you're over here like "uh...uh...she's the same as a nude model who had a bit part in a cheesy lifeguard soap in the 90s!"

You're highly unaware of how many box office records Obsession broke. It's going to be a horror classic for the rest of your life, and more and more "Obsession" films/TV shows will be made in the years to come (plus dedications to Inde's character, such as Universal Studios making her the main attraction at Halloween Horror Nights this year).

Then if this phase two of the Avengers is as successful as phase one, her Rogue character could be as big of a factor as Scarlett Johansson was as Black Widow.

In fact, Johansson is the plateau I would say Inde could possibly reach. People have fallen in love with her like they did with Scarjo over 20 years ago. And Scarjo is still getting massive roles to this day.

As far as Sydney Sweeney, that's another one you're wrong about. Even if/when her looks dry up (which they might not for 20+ years with today's advancements), she has the acting chops to keep getting big roles unlike those other women you named. If there's anyone I would compare her to it's Halle Berry, and Halle is still doing very well for herself all these years later.

Whether you like it or not, you're going to be seeing both of those chicks everywhere you look for the next couple of decades.
 
Obsession did so well on such a small budget that it most likely changed how Hollywood operates too. You will absolutely see far more of these types of gambles by producers and studios over the next couple of years than we have in the past. Backrooms happening at the same time, as well as the movie by Markiplier, is only going to amplify it. It's much easier for them to fund 10 projects with $1 million budgets and hope one of them strikes gold than to keep tossing out $10 million to movies that barely break even. It some ways it's kind of like VC funding and throwing out smaller chunks of cash for a wider amount of possibilities to see exponential growth.

At any rate, I don't want any mods to be pissed at me for starting arguments, so I will instead bring the volume down a bit and say this: I think that it's highly premature to call someone Hollywood's new "it girl" based entirely on one film (especially a really silly social media fad film like this). Again, I am not old enough to actually remember this myself, but I do know that there was a ton of similar hype surrounding the young actors in American Beauty (1999), but all of them simply faded into oblivion and that film has aged very poorly as well.

I would be glad to be proven wrong. I hope that Inde Navarrette does develop into a fine actress with an illustrious career, moving into serious roles in a similar way as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (who, as we all know, both started in silly teen nonsense as well before becoming renowned actors). But, right now, it's just too early to tell.
 
I'm gonna assume that you were trying to refer to 'American Pie' and not 'American Beauty' cause otherwise it wouldn't really work. I agree that it's too early to tell where things will go and who knows where everyone is in 5 or 10 years, but I also feel you consistently miscategorize the movie's success and its reception and that of Inde Navarette. Yes, American Pie was a phenomenon of its time but its strength was a fun ensemble cast and relatable story which did get a number of careers started but none of them were considered to have delivered a standout acting performance. Inde Navarette has already booked a role that's most likely going to lead to appearances in several MCU blockbusters, regardless of whatever other roles she'll book in addition to that.

Like, we get it, you really, really hate Obsession and it's very important to you to downplay it and mock it and insist it will be forgotten and no one in it will amount to anything because you don't want it to be successful. But guess what, it's not up to you. It's a movie that's not only insanely successful financially but was also very well received critically and audiences really liked it as well. Like there's simply no metric here where it won't end up remembered as a big hit. I do think it's very funny though that, with hindsight, you happily talk up Blair Witch and Paranomal Activity when I'm almost certain you would have shit on those as silly fad movies as well when they came out. Some people just gotta hate what they find inexplicably successful.

As for Sydney Sweeney, she's done a ton of diverse roles and movies and is already booked for the sequel to her $400 million grossing movie. Talking about how you never see anyone talk about her acting, while on a gooning forum, seems a bit lacking in selfawareness but whatever. I think even you should have the capacity of objective thought to understand that she is a legitimate actress with legitimate box office hits and not a nude model/Playmate that fell ass backwards into an acting career based on her looks.
 
There are three 'young people' in American Beauty. Mena Suvari was never talked about as a breakout talent and she has a tiny role in the movie. Wes Bentley had well known substance abuse issues after American Beauty but still managed a fairly successful career and is constantly working. It's also well known that Thora Birch's father, as her manager, led to her losing a bunch of roles due to his demands and presence on set and she was mostly focused on indie movies and even took a break from acting. So again, it's unclear to me what you think 'American Beauty' has to say about 'Obsession' or Inde Navarette.

Also, the fact that you think you're not supposed to laugh during Obsession, the movie written and directed by a sketch comedy guy, really shows how little you seem to understand about it. There's been entire lengthy debates everywhere by people discussing which parts people should or shouldn't laugh at but there's most certainly no consensus that there's no intentionally funny scenes in this. That's absurd.

You keep insisting you didn't confuse movies yet next you mention 'The Housemaid' and then clearly describe 'Christy'. You can look this up before posting, you realize that, yes? 'The Housemaid' has made $400 million and she does get naked in it and yet it's a movie based on a book primarily aimed at women whose audience skewed heavily towards women, not 'gooners' or whatever. Like you gotta understand where you are, this forum is not reflective of real life or why people go to the movies. Sydney Sweeney is literally gonna be the star of a trilogy aimed squarely at women.

Also, Jessica Alba is still alive, why would you compare her to two actresses that died in the 1960s? What is even the point of this? Don't you have any normal comparisons or thoughts? Jesus christ.
 
As far as looks I would rank prime Jessica Alba over every name mentioned, but she cannot act well. What little potential she showed as an actress in Dark Angel never developed beyond that. The Fantastic Four movies were terrible, and Sin City was great where she had a very limited role. After that run in 2005-2007 though, it was simply her lack of talent why she was in bomb after bomb after bomb.

Inde in one role has already surpassed Alba in talent (plus box office), and she'll most likely only get better. There are definitely funny moments in Obsession and I think that speaks to Inde's range as an actress. We'll be seeing her host SNL sometime this or next year, and it'll be highly lauded like when Sweeney hosted.

Sweeney showed great range with Christy... whether you think that's a good movie or not, her performance in it can't be denied and plus you have to admire the work she put into that (Alba or none of the other actresses you named ever put that kind of work into a role). Then you add The Housemaid and Anyone But You's box office success along with all the hugely successful marketing of her sponsorship deals... Sweeney is on a remarkable run and it will continue for years to come.

Alexandra Daddario is someone who is all tits, no glory. Prime Kate Upton, Brooklyn Decker, etc. These women fit what you're describing, not Sweeney and Inde. You'll hopefully be able to look back at this convo in 2030 and see how wrong you are 😁

Also, for the record, American Beauty ruled, and that movie was carried by Kevin Spacy and Annette Benning, not any of the other actors.

So not also do you have to compete against all the talented and attractive men and women in the entertainment industry that wants her, you might have the box the leader of the Autobots.
