Support FileDitch - Questions and Issues

I'm on Android using a browser called Via which is just a Android WebView custom wrapper. I believe it is open sourced.

I also have to use Cloudflare WARP app to bypass censorship in my country. ISPs here usually just block websites on DNS level so using Cloudflare usually works for bypassing. For some websites I rarely got blocked by getting a 403 forbidden error. However, it is not the case for FileDitch. The website loads.

For the last 3-4 weeks it fails the browser test. It still might be due to the CF or might be a browser issue. There's a toggle switch to kill the ad blocking. Still the same results. It keeps failing the browser test. I tried changing user-agent. Didn't work.

I don't know how your browser test works but I would like you to diagnose the issue maybe. I know it might take your precious time. I don't wanna leave Via for another browser right now. All my mobile browsing habit is based on it.

Thanks for any help. Best wishes.

I’m trying to upload through the API but it keeps failing with this:

Status code: 403
Response: {"error":"forbidden"}

Just want to figure out why uploads are blocked.

Use a real browser..
same as above, idk why it doesnt work for you when it works for 200.000 people a day.
probably some temporary dl server issues, its been fine for a while now, things go wrong sometimes.
Hope that big .tar poster uses https://fileditchalbums.st/pbxrzgde8g in the future ;)
lazy copypasting my community announcement:
We now got a fun Brazilian server for uploads, now you get 30ms max from brazil instead of like 120ms to our ashburn server which should result in way faster upload speeds. It has existed for a while but here's the announcement, we have funky albums feature now. https://fileditchalbums.st/pbxrzgde8g
In future it will be possible to like upload 20 files at once and have it be a folder instantly at https://new.fileditch.com/, probably next 10 days. Future version should also allow editable folders.Remote upload is also planned. As always i'm promising accounts for fileditch at some point in the future

please adjust the way the file size is displayed.
with small files, this might not be so noticeable, but with larger files, the difference between binary and decimal calculations is significant.
thanks

You say the file is 12.84GB
Fileditch says its 13.78GB

https://fileditchfiles.st/api/balph...029_260923_beca_barbie_episode_s2_4k_orig.mp4

size13784176728

13784176728 bytes is in fact 13.78GB(GigaBytes)
Your "12.84GB" is wrong. It is 12.84GiB (Gibibytes)
Sadly windows displays GiB as GB.
*complicated subject but i swear by using correct numbers*
pixeldrain also does it exactly as I do, the correct true way, your file would also be "13.78GB" there
Nearly everything uses the decimal notation nowadays, it's just Microsoft which refuses to follow the standard. That makes it confusing Network speeds are also in decimal. 1000BASE-T can transfer exactly 1000000000 bits per second.

i’m aware of the mathematical details and i didn’t say that the figures were wrong either.
it’s also got nothing to do with which OS i use. i’ve set it up the same way as about 95 per cent (or even more) of users have.
but anyway, i’ll buy an ‘i’ and will start using it when giving size details from now on.

thanks for you time

what happened to the shortened links? they're not on the files for me anymore - they seemingly still work thankfully but i liked them
before: after:

Disabled displaying them while i moved theditch.st to cloudflare, because that caused it to be down for like 30 minutes, nothing to worry about, theyre back now :P
They will always work because i backup that DB in so many places :P

https://fileditchalbums.st now has accounts :)
I dont know why i launched it without accounts :Sadge::Sadge:
Please don't message me to ask to attach old albums to your account :FeelsRageMan:
This brings me one step further to having accounts on new.fileditch.com itself.. :)

just try again?? file downloads/plays fine here now. Things break once in a while with 250k downloads a day.
"the move to cloudflare" that's just for the site itself not the downloads :P

Better news: working on accounts on fileditch, the upload part of things. So you can manage and delete files.
Paid accounts for 5$ per TB of permanent storage are also coming.

is this pop up ad a temporary thing or y’all trying to fix it? as much as i love using fileditch its annoying ngl. i cant even click the play button to watch the vid or even to download it, any solutions for mobile/chrome user?

it's been like that for years? I have to pay for the server costs somehow..
profit is like 500$ a month lol.
If paid accounts somehow print money, i will make the ads less.
I can recommend brave browser on mobile, blocks ads by default.

i found the file youre referring to and welp, it shows the short links now, database sometimes says no :P, when it says says it shows it automatically. Also lol you put it in simlish.

In better news, accounts for uploads are now available for asia and north/south america, europe will be available either in 1 hour or in a few hours.

had to, when i saw the option. anyway, i uploaded a new file and still didn't see the link. opened it in a diff browser and it's there, so it's being blocked by adblock. it was ublock's cosmetic filtering that removed it

Well Pixeldrain can afford ~$80k a month in maintenance costs, definitely these money don't come exclusively from ads. Although it was hit recently by Patreon purge subscriptions, so it's basically a crypto-only subscription service now.
It all depends on how "official" you are with your operation and how many infra providers in your stack accept crypto. If the rate is close to 1, then it's obviously worth to integrate crypto payments for some sort of subscription benefit, like paying x amount per y data size per month without expiration time during the sub. You aren't going to make gigantic margins on that, but having a monetization scheme which doesn't entirely depend on the will of third-parties will go a long way towards the service not burning down instantly at some point.

I made an account the other day (Oct 1st around 12:30pm EDT), and I downloaded the account's login token file. Then I made a bunch of albums. I just tried logging in today (around 6:50am EDT) and get the error message below:

I'm assuming this is unintentional?
