I don’t know who the former is, seems I’m not missing much.
That may be what people on Twitch watch for, but we’re here and not there. I would expect that outside of the bubble who think that Twitch streamers are household names, the greater population would have different reasons, so I asked.
Who is “DSP”?
It’s hard to comprehend because I assume most of this board is men, and dudes gossiping and caring about “drama” like these Z-list “celebrities” are characters in a little soap opera is not what I would expect by default in an adult male-dominated space. I don’t get why people like my ex read US magazine, watch TMZ, or care about who Taylor Swift is dating either, and those are figures of true cultural significance…not super-niche online nobodies. I’ve never been a gossip and don’t know my friends to be, so that might be why “drama” doesn’t get my dick hard like it does for some.
Different strokes for different folks as everyone has their own motivations for watching, but ask 1000 people on the street if it’s harder to believe that a bunch of men follow a streamer primarily for:
A) some (by all accounts on here pretty shitty and unoriginal) jokes, apparently the same games that everyone else plays at the same times, and (according to folks on here) shallow takes
OR
B) Looks
…and the vast majority are going to believe that looks are the primary driver.
When I incorporate all the piling-on here I’ve read about how her content is bad/low-effort, it makes it even more difficult to believe that people here watch for that. That doesn’t mean watching for looks is “better” in an absolute value-judgement way…but it does explain the greater context my question came from. It’d be different if her content was getting rave reviews or was even 50/50.
As far as metrics being “interesting” on any level…agree to disagree.
