Decided to make a discussion thread for them as they used to be one of my favorite creators on OF, and has since gone on hiatus since the beginning of 2025.
 
I know they got engaged to their partner but because they did it in cosplay (I think it was shortly after a con plus Nonbinate was in one of their Vi cosplays and their partner as dressed as Singed) and posted the pictures from it, people in the Arcane fandom got pissed because they thought it was about shipping those two characters they were dressed as. And because fandoms can be notoriously stupid across the board, the post was spammed with hate messages and Nonbinate's DMs were spammed with dumb ass threats and shit. The reason the photos were done in cosplay was just because they thought it would be fun and silly, simple as that.
As far as their OF hiatus, I think they mentioned it last year or something that they just weren't feeling it anymore which is fair enough. If they weren't enjoying what they were doing, I don't blame them for not wanting to keep making that sort of content.
If there was a singular reason for the hiatus, it would have to be the overreaction from followers and stuff over the silly engagement photos. Like the pictures were harmless and silly, there was no reason for a small group of people to hate on two silly cosplayers celebrating something like that. But yeah, its pretty much a hiatus from all social media from what I can tell and its probably not a bad call, all things considered. I'm sure they're doing well though, I miss seeing them post in general.
 
Yeah I knew about the drama with their engagement photos, to the point where they were apparently sent a death threat by someone particularly insane. I also know through the grapevine that they officially got married at some point this year, and while I thought some mention of that would crop up somewhere it’s as odd as it is impressive how tight of a lid they’ve kept on most everything. The only appearance I’ve seen of M was in a behind the scenes clip on IG of the prop manufacturer they work for on occasion and that was months ago.
Their partner still goes to cons and has taken photos with others without M anywhere in sight, and while I’d imagine it’d be a simple enough task to ask others not to include them in photos, part of me thinks they’re just not attending cons at all. Which is also odd to me and leads me to think it could be something health related, as they’d mentioned last year they were having fairly complicated issues for a while. Or that they finally went through with getting top surgery and/or HRT, which is something they’d mentioned wanting to do often enough back when they streamed on Twitch every week.
This is all as speculative as one could possibly be, and I suppose it doesn’t matter much either way since they said they were done with lewd content anyway. I just miss their content a lot and it’s hard not to let these thoughts fester lmao.
 
If they got married already that's great news and I'm happy for them!
Yeah, I've seen their partner post at cons and stuff and I really hope its a thing of them not to be included in photos and nothing tied to them not going for health reasons or something. Maybe its a case of them not wanting to feel like they *have* to cosplay at events which is totally justifiable, especially with larger and more elaborate builds. But like you, I do remember them mentioning health issues when they streamed and that they also wanted to pursue top surgery as well. It could be that they've already had the procedure but aren't quite ready to show anyone but those closest to them and their friend group. I'd rather that be the case rather than them going through a medical hardship.
I think they mentioned they stopped doing lewd versions of their cosplays like last year or so? It was shortly after they did their Ashley set. Their Patreon also closed a few months ago too, I think back in April or May too. So bummed that we never got a lewd version of their Pit-fighter Vi cosplay though. I'm in the same boat as you though, I miss their content a lot and they're someone I routinely look forward to seeing more of.
 
Unfortunately also not just the arcane fans that caused the threats being an issue. It went out of those circles and because M is non binary it hit all the gender critical spaces so even when there weren't threats I saw a lot of posts tagging them mocking them for how they got engaged and saying stuff like 'this is how they/them get engaged, how pathetic' , then a bunch of derogatory stuff I won't repeat.
I genuinely thought it was sweet how the proposal was set up, so find it sad people can't just be happy for others, but that's the world we exist in.
A real shame as I enjoyed all their content and the friend group stuff they shared on other socials, lots of passion for creating and felt a little more genuine than some others do to me - not just doing it for notoriety or money.
Anyone got any suggestions of any people similar to M?
 
I didn't realize it went beyond the Arcane fans but I'm not surprised honestly. People are pretty shitty online over the smallest things that don't concern them in the slightest bit.
I think a lot of the genuine nature of it is from the fact M is just a creative person in general. There were several of their streams where they just talked to chat and worked on wigs or props and you could just tell that they were super into it. Plus they didn't try and feed their ego or anything either and if they showed off elaborate pieces, its because they were proud of them. They're just a chill, nonbinary gremlin that enjoys making costumes and dressing up.
As far as cosplayers similar to M, these are the ones I could think of off the top of my head that match them in terms of general vibes and enjoyment of cosplay and/or aesthetics: glitchy_rogue, ann_mossy, odfel, sinty_cosplay, tinkeringpixie, valiantf0x, minakess, olivecosplays, luxstrous, ryesugar, martycipher, and savannah_solo.
 
It's a shame that people were shitty like that. I'm not a huge believer in the whole nonbinary or trans stuff, but I'm not gonna harass someone over it. M put out good lewd content that was worth fapping to and seems like a genuinely good person and a fantastic cosplayer.
M was also was pretty personable and answered messages/questions on Instagram occasionally. The last time I chatted with M it was about the love action Cowboy Bebop.
At least this explains the lack of seeing posts on Instagram and on here.
 
Oh yeah, they were actually really cool to talk to. I think the last message I sent them was a little before their hiatus which was a congratulations sort of thing. Its always nice to find a content creator that is actually interesting and enjoyable to talk to.
But yeah, that's pretty much the long and short of it. Like I said before though, I am sure they're doing good and I hope they come back to Instagram when they're ready to. Its probably a good thing for their mental health as a creator to take some time away from it all.
 
A big reason why they stopped posting earlier this year was cause there ex best friend made a huge document with a shit load of evidence that M is absolutely crazy and abusive as fuck. It’s an open document but the author doesn’t want it publicly posted unless M starts going back to cons again without doing anything to change there behaviour
 
Damn, for real? That would explain them not attending any cons this entire year, if it’s true, as I found it fitting enough that they’d go radio silent online after their engagement photo drama. But it seemed very odd for them to completely stop engaging with cosplay and cons altogether in addition to that.
I’d love anymore details if you have them but this alone is pretty interesting. Curious if M was prone to getting shitfaced and going off the rails because alcohol always seemed like a prevalent part of their con shenanigans.
 
Curious what ex best friend and did they threaten to post it or post a snippet of it? This is the first I am seeing of this.
 
Well I can’t help but laugh a little about hitting the nail directly on the head with it being about M getting shitfaced all the time and going off the rails. I never thought too much about how often they’d post stories about going out for drinks at cons or otherwise because what socially active 20-something isn’t doing that. But with how much of an extrovert they are it didn’t surprise me to read about them chugging a bottle of rum or walking around cons with a jug of whiskey while being overly handsy/perverted with people, and if anything I’m legitimately shocked they never got kicked out of a hotel for being wasted. Or just straight up getting booked with a DUI.
Anyway I think she gets a bit too deep into armchair psychiatry to explain every facet of M’s behavior over the duration of their friendship, but regardless it’s a pretty harrowing take on how M operates as a person. Definitely explains why they haven’t shown up at any cons all year so I’d assume they’re taking this entire callout seriously enough, or they’re just waiting it out lmao. And I was always pretty curious why their previous best friend opalescentteacup all but disappeared from both their life and social media so that was pretty eye opening as well.
Thanks for the share. I hope for M’s sake they’re taking the time to build a living outside of social media/cosplay because it all clearly fueled the unhealthy/toxic side of their personality. The prop shop they work at recently posted a photo that had them in it and their hair isn’t even dyed, so from that alone I’d imagine they’re settling into just having an actual job and staying out of the spotlight, the former aspect of which I believe would solve 90% of all drama in the cosplay community.
But I also wouldn’t be surprised to see them try and return next year by way of either addressing things or just plowing past it altogether.
 
Fucking hell, that's a lot to process. But seems plausible enough to have actually happened. I mean I generally dismiss claims like this, but there's a lot of receipts so it's difficult to ignore it. Considering M has gone radio silent on all public apps and appearances, definitely seems like a shame response to being called on something you actually did.
 
For sure M is just trying to lay low in hopes it will blow over after long enough they can reemerge. As somebody who got trapped in a loop for nearly a year with a narcissistic woman constantly manipulating, love bombing, pushing me away, then repeating, so much of the shit in that account of events and behavior with M read crystal clear to me. Trying to pull yourself out of the snare of a person like that is no picnic, so major props to all of them finding the strength to do that.
 
Dug around on FB and found they’ve sold off a ton of their prominent cosplays recently. Definitely get the vibe they’re hanging up the hobby for the foreseeable future, and they seem to be a permanent employee at that prop shop so that could just be what they do now as far as things go.
 

BTS photos they took with armor made by the guy who runs the prop shop they work at. Nothing posted to their own profile but I think that will be the ultimate test of what may bring them out of hiatus because I assume this photoshoot is gonna have to be posted somewhere.
 
I think there's a pretty good chance they won't be posted unless M says its okay. This feels like them just modeling the cosplay more than making a return to it. The propmaker did a damn good job though.
 
I’d been keeping an eye on their Amazon wishlist because it was pretty much the only thing they were updating with people, either of our ilk or their family/friends, routinely buying things off of it up until a few months ago when they stopped adding stuff. And as of today it seems they just deleted it altogether so I’m curious if that was a move to further downsize their online presence or to move away from getting attention from simps, I dunno.
If anything I think we’ll see something in the coming months since it’ll have been a year into their hiatus by February.
 
Yeah they did something similar to their Patreon over the summer. They might be downsizing their presence overall. They haven't disabled their OF page though and all of their sets are still available for purchase as of today. Its a shame if they do delete it though but those of us who bought from them will still have access to the content.
If they do come back, I have a feeling it will be less about them cosplaying and more about them focusing on props which is not an entire pivot away from their content but considerably less pressure than having to do whole cosplays, prop work, and wig styling. If they do come back, I hope they are a better person when they left.
