What on earth is this mess of a paragraph? Minx was given many chances to better herself and offered help from friends yet still let herself fall into the state she's currently in. If she truly wanted better she would make an actual effort. I have no empathy for a woman who despite having those around her attempt to help her with her problems chooses to continue being an alcoholic wastrel.
