I used pornstar as a general term, though not literally talking about pornstars; I more so meant OF girls but yeah - obviously this girl doesn't have a boss, she's self employed. Sure, you can argue there's degradation in sex work, but I'd argue there is also degradation in traditional work as well, albeit likely not as blatant/in your face. Ever been yelled at or reprimanded by your boss? Ever worked a customer service job? Holy shit, the degradation service workers endure daily is INSANE. Talk about soul-crushing. These girls (OF) are online, making money, a decent portion of them, without even doing B/G content. But I suppose you'll say the degradation in those cases comes from their audiences or the internalized thoughts and attitudes about about the work they do.
My original point was that this issue is incredibly one-sided - men can sleep around and fuck whoever they want without any social repercussions but when women do it, it's suddenly a problem. Even more so if it's for money online, yet these girls can have huge audiences. So why is it so socially reprehensible when, generally, we're all so receptive to it?
You said 99% of people have those antiquated views about sex work/workers but then why is there so much money to be made? Why do so many people subscribe and buy what they're selling? What does that say about you or me, being here, consuming the content? Just saying. You don't have to answer all my questions, obviously. Many are simply rhetorical. Well, fuck it. Didn't mean to get into a philosophical discussion here - and sorry for diverting from the topic of this girl herself - but:
What's the difference, functionally - as in how this person goes about their life, applies themselves to their profession, and monetizes their talents - between a professional athlete and a sex worker?
Only that one profession is respected by society (and in some cases not really, for instance people telling you to just shut up and dribble) and the other respected by only a very small few.
