Hey! I use an app called Instander. It's available in android. You can use it to today anything from Instagram. I use that app that's how I used to download.
 
If you’re on iOS, and have a Mac, you can screen record using the screen mirroring feature and it works for grabbing protected insta stories
 
if you use google chrome you can download extensions to save stories without any problem
