I'm pretty sure she had said she was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the road. Now if that's true or not, who TF actually knows.
If it was true and she wasn't on a bike, it probably literally spared her from death
 
If I remember correctly, it was both. It was a motorcycle accident and it was a drunk driver that hit her in the intersection.
 
Ah, well suite surprising that was the luck she managed to pull out of that, because I doubt any later outcome would have been better than that
